Cvgip: Image Understanding
- Ikeuchi And,Sang Hong
This paper will investigate the
design of the compiler component to generate the second step. The
compiler extends each leaf node of the tree and several
nodes so that it performs the LSCD. The compiler chooses the
largest 3D face as the primal face among several visible faces at
the aspect corresponding to a leaf node. The compiler has priority
rules which will select one particular method out of several possible
ones; this rule defines a face coordinate system on a primal
face. By using these rules, it analyzes the primal face, defines the
face coordinate system on it, and registers the defining method to
a node connected to the...

On the Performance of the HONG Network for Pattern Classification
- Ajantha S. Atukorale,P. N. Suganthan,Tom Downs
In this paper, a new neural network model called the hierarchical overlapped neural gas (HONG)
network is introduced and its performance on several datasets is described. In order to obtain improved
classification accuracy, the HONG network partitions the input space by projecting the input data onto
several different second layer neural gas networks. This duplication enables the HONG network to
generate multiple classifications for every sample presented in the form of confidence values, and these
confidence values are combined to obtain the final classification. Excellent recognition rates for several
benchmark datasets are presented.

An innovative vector quantization technique called the Neural-Gas algorithm was recently introduced by

Building Energy Efficiency Standards in Hong Kong and Mainland China
- Sam C. M. Hui
This paper investigates building energy efficiency standards in Hong Kong and
mainland China. Building energy regulations are placed in the context of broad trends in
energy supply and demand, and of energy policy. The paper offers an overview of the
requirements of specific energy-efficiency laws and codes for buildings, and discusses how
these requirements affect building design. While its fundamental economic policy approach
emphasizes free markets and minimum government intervention, Hong Kong has
developed building energy codes for commercial and other buildings largely in response to
the energy and environmental concerns. Mandatory code for building envelope was
enforced since 1995; energy codes for building services were developed and...
