- Olvera Salgado, Maria Dolores; Bahena Delgado, Gregorio; Alpuche Garcés, Óscar; García Matías, Francisco
The objective of the research was to analyze water productivity and the impact of the
technification of irrigation has on it, and the yield of the crops as the main contributors
of food. It was performed in the Irrigation District 005, Delicias, Chihuahua. We used
the comparative method for two scenarios:
as the condition prior to the
technification of irrigation in 2003, characterized by a surface with gravity irrigation,
in 2012-2013, in the surface with technical irrigation (multi-outlet spraying
and drip). The results showed marginal water savings of approximately 63,454 dam,
and a production of 124,662 tons of crops. The drip and spraying methods generated

- Cunha, Roseli Barros
J.M. Arguedas collected legends and myths from Inca culture and translated some of these texts for Spanish. Moreover, in his literary production inserted in various ways the information collected and resorted to some translation strategies in order to lead his reader with the knowledge of the worldview of a transculturated culture. I will verify some of his works and essays anthropological how that intersection occurs between anthropology, translation, oral and written literature as ways to approach the other's culture. The Peruvian author in his latest novel, El zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo, says that when he found...
O duplo cego da antropologia
- Segata, Jean
The objective of this work is to explore the discussions begun in the Vienna Circle with what was called the “linguistic turn” toward anthropological work. The study opens into two levels of inquiry about the place of translation, which can be summarized in two questions: based on the categories available in anthropology, how can ‘the other’ be described? Put differently, although the ‘other’ has a language, we need our own language to say anything about it - i.e., the process of description is itself already a translation process. The second level refers to the nature of the dialogue between anthropologists...

- Colin P. Groves; Subfamilies Cercopithecinae; Colobinae Th E
Summary- Th e colobine monkeys of Africa are much more diverse than is often realized; in the case of Red Colobus (genus Piliocolobus), this is because the species replace each other geographically, and there is even some interbreeding where their ranges meet. It is not possible to make a modern taxonomic revision of Black-and-white Colobus (genus Colobus), in the absence of a thorough modern study to determine consistency of the diff erences between the taxa deemed to be subspecies of the two polytypic species, C. angolensis and C. guereza. Red Colobus, in particular, are by their behaviour extremely vulnerable, and...
This paper addresses the philosophical and historical contexts of early twentieth-century Europe, particularly Germany, in order to better understand the life, work and thought of Edith Stein (Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross). A primary analysis of Stein’s work in philosophical anthropology and the phenomenology of faith and pedagogy will be presented, followed by a reflection on her possible contribution to Latin American social science and literature.
Metamorfosis del paisaje almeriense. Antropología e historia de una alteración
- Ibáñez de Miguel, José Andrés
Within a historical and environmental perspective, market values imposed from state power
or distant centers of power, have fiercely altered the Mediterranean landscape and Almería
in particular. With the extraction of raw materials for processing industries and the gradual
clearing of forests, an intense process of desertification Anthropic occurs. Interviews our
fieldwork shows that agricultural practices on highs and middle Mountain, maintain a conflict
over access to natural resources within a limiting process mechanisms for purchase.
- Korstanje, Maximiliano Emanuel
The Latino-American experiences during 60/70s decades have been bloody, and fraught with
violence. This essay-review, explores the discursive roots of violence through the critique
of two major works; one of them, recently published and authored by Daniel Feierstein as
El Genocidio como Practica social. The second one signals to Violencia de Texto, Violencia
de Contexto on the hand of Freddy Timmermann. Alternating the strengths of one with
weakness of the other, and vice-versa, we provide with a new conceptual framework not only
to understand the politics, but also the “archetype of forced-disappeared”.
Through the ethnography performed, the text reflects on issues of racism and discrimination
practiced by the Spanish public administration, and that the official discourse of XXI century
states seem to overcome (or relegated to countries “undemocratic” and “backward”), showing
how they never actually disappeared but remain linked in the most underlying ideological
structures of nation states. Questions such as identity, belonging, tradition, citizenship... serve
to create and legitimize physical and mental borders built around alterity, while hiding much of
the reality that a migrant have to pass through in the Spanish state. Information barely reaches
or matters to most of the “citizens” who walk among ghosts unwary,...
This article attempts to establish a first approach to productions shooting in Japan and China
during the nineteenth century. The analysis of the cultural logic underlying those photographs
to understand some of these key visuals. The main characteristic of the colonial ideology
imposed by the dominant Western patterns found in photography a tremendously effective
means of expression. The ultimate goal of this paper is precisely to reveal these principles
through comparative analysis of Chinese and Japanese pictures of the time.
¿Tribu rasta en la Habana?
- García Ramos, Marialina
The text offers an approach to the emergence of a Rastafarian discourse in Havana as one
of the identity phenomena bursting today in Cuban society. From a perspective adopting the
concept of urban tribes when approaching this group, the point of departure is to be found in
the inter/cross-cultural contacts when confronting an imaginary deriving from the processes of
de-territorialization involved in the configuration of transnational communities resulting from
dialogue scenarios emerging from the market, the cultural industries, and other globalization
agencies. The analysis is approached from a systemic focus which evaluates the relationship
existing between the emergence of this conglomerate and the changing events in the...
El acontecimiento democrático. Humor, estrategia y estética de la indignación
- Fernández de Rota, Antón
The aim of this paper is to discuss the “15-M” or the “indignados” movement as an event,
a singular political event, but also a machine made to generate future events. Thus, I will
analyze the aesthetics of outrage, its strategy of democratic overidentification and how they
have taken advantage of the use of humor, and, in particular, a certain humorous parody style
(stiob), theorized by anthropologists Yurchak and Boyer. From the results of this analysis,
I will move to discuss how the indignados have reopened the old “democratic issue” at the
same time they rose up, against to the sad passions cultivated on stage of the...
The violence of women is very common in universal stories, myths and legends. One of the
common myths mostly located in Mexico is the Llorona. This legend has been reinterpreted in
film in various ways, versions serving and tastes of every kind historiographical and popular
opinion. In this paper, we discuss three film versions of La Llorona, La Llorona (Peón, 1933),
La Llorona (Cardona, 1960) y La maldición de la Llorona (Becerra, 1963) placing them both
in the anthropological, social and historical, to see the various ways to show female violence
and condemnation of women to the fact of the murder of their children.
Estudiar la ciencia, pensar la antropología
- Blois, María Paula
The concern about the role of anthropology has promoted my interest in studying contemporary
science. But anthropological research of this object in turn forwards to the reflection on the
place of anthropology in today’s world. This article then begins with a review of the proposals
on the anthropology of the contemporary world of Gérard Althabe and Marc Augé. After
presents ongoing research aimed at examining the processes of production, appropriation
and use of scientific knowledge on the part of various actors in the Argentine context. This
presentation gives an account of the variety of dimensions and characteristics of science and
the modern world in this particular scenario....
Mineras.
- Soraire, Forencia; Barrionuevo, Laura; Bard Wigdor, Gabriela
The extraction and export of non-renewable natural resources are central to the politics of
development in contemporary Argentina. Historically, men have dominated the respective
industries. In recent years, however, the growth of the mining industry and the opening of
the first surface mine have contributed to a growing participation of women in the workforce.
We address this issue through a number of related perspectives: the anthropology of work,
the social production of the habitat, and critical gender research. On this base, we explore the
case of the mine La Alumbrera in Catamarca province. More specifically, the proposed paper
considers the situation of women in mining: How do...
