81. La alquimia de la Geografía escolar. Acercamientos a la configuración de un campo disciplina en México (1825-1898 ca.) - Georgina M. E. Aguirre Lora
The purpose of this article is to understand geography as a field of knowledge that is shaped by the different interests of a social group in a given moment. The desire for reaching that longed-for national progress and making it part of the curricula for the public school generated a complex web of processes that were not necessarily similar between them, nor convergent in their intent. This study undertakes the analysis of some scholar manuals of geography in the primary school as hints of a nodal problem: the configuration of a disciplinary field that can be understood from many different...

84. A Fronteira como Ameaça: Geografia, Imaginação e Experiência - Novaes, André Reyes
This paper takes into account debates concerning Geography, imagination andexperience in order to study how South American borders are portrayed in the Brazilian press. By discussing texts and maps published in the mainstream press, this paper seeks to analyze reports in which journalists do a kind of “field work” in frontier towns and cities. The coverage of a specific event that occurred on the border between Brazil and Colombia in the early 1990s is used to illustrate the relationship between the diffusion of images in the press and the legitimacy of specific forms of action in the border areas.

86. Espaços Públicos: a Cidade em Cena (I) A Fabricação do Filme.
This article discusses the use of the image in Geography and in particular photography with regard to the role given to visual experience in the constitution of the discipline. In addition to the literature on the importance of image in the production, dissemination and teaching of geographical knowledge, a dialogue is established with authors who question the use of photography in the context of fieldwork and research in Social Sciences. The discussion from the perspective of the use of images suggests a tension that permeates Geography, whose research procedures vary from completely controlling sensory experience at one extreme to giving priority to distinct experiences related to space...

88. A Geografia Criativa do Cinema O Papel da Montagem na Construção dos Espaços Fílmicos - Alvarenga, André Lima de
The present work approaches the construction of space in film from theperspective of manipulative functions and strategies developed for editing. The focus of this analysis is the connection between the successive takes of moving images that compose the plot. Following this approach, a brief analysis of a sequence of montage extracted from Peter Yates’s Bullit (1968) is presented.

89. Escala e pesquisa na geografia. Problema ou solução? - Elias de Castro, Iná
Scale has been a recurrent theme in Geography in the last decades. Perspectives, debates and controversies concerning scale occupy a large number of articles and books which leaves very little new to say about the concept. However, given the profusion of proposals and conceptions concerning scale, confusion is eventually inevitable so that the concept is not always easily to apply in empirical situations. This is an inescapable paradox for anyone focusing on the theme: important ontological debates and the lack of clear application of scale as a methodological resource ultimately results in the very negation of the significance of the concept for Human Geography and for marking spatial...

90. A Geografia Francesa - Claval, Paul
The French school of Geography structured the discipline at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th Centuries. This school benefited from the initial surge of the discipline but over time lost contact with a changing world. Beginning in the 1960s the French school was progressively renewed (Claval, 1998; 2002).

91. Geografia e Inovação Tecnológica: uma Abordagem Urgente - Ibañez, Pablo
In recent years interest has grown in Brazil concerning policies which inducetechnological innovation which calls for a careful analysis of the scope and development of these policies. Theoretical and empirical reflection on the subject has been mostly carried out by economists and engineers and geographers are relatively absent from the debates. The aim of this study is to provide a review of classical texts concerning innovation which focus on spatial dimensions. Until recently few Brazilian geographers treated the subject of inducing technological innovation but this is changing and here light is shed on recent geographic studies treat the subject and a possible agenda is provided for research...

92. Como Navegar nas Fortes Vagas da Geografia e não Naufragar. A Trajetória e as Lições de Maurício Abreu - Elias de Castro, Iná
The aim of this text is to recover the essential features of the academic careerof Mauricio de Almeida Abreu, as professor and researcher, within the changing currents of Geography that faced our generation and the research options he chose. Profound and sagacious lessons are available for both new researchers and old concerning how geographical knowledge is produced, even for those who have no idea about how much effort is expended in this task. The value of research method, the tireless search for sources of information, the organization and analysis of results with a clear view of the intimate relationship between the conceptual basis and the reality...

94. Debates Acerca da Geografia Histórica e da Geo-História: Elementos para a Análise Espaço-Temporal - Lima, Átila de Manezes; Amora, Zenilde Baima
The aim of this article is to discuss the theoretical and conceptual debate aboutgeographies of the past, that is, the different geographical approaches to territorial formations, landscapes and the temporal mediations that contributed to the production of spaces of the past and present. This study is the result of theoretical reflections developed in the first chapter of the dissertation The Historical Geography of Iguatu-CE: An Analysis of Cotton Cropping from 1920 to 1980, which presented the historical production of space in Iguatu, identifying the subjects and mediation processes involved in the area studied. Historical analysis, use of oral sources, analysis of documents, photographs and speeches and observation...

100. A Geografia e o Resgate da Antigeopolítica - Lima, Ivaldo
The aim of this article is to contrast classical and critical postmodern geopoliticsusing critical epistemologies which renew contemporary political geography. An antigeopolitics perspective is presented with the epistemological purpose of proposing critical geopolitics with the potential for constructing counter-spaces, democratic spatial counter-orders and counter-geographies of power. Hence, territorial justice arises on an ethical horizon which stakes out a position of anti-geopolitics and examples of territorial dynamics in contemporary Latin America are used to illustrate this kind of approach. The intellectual presence of Bertha Becker guides the text and provides inspiration for a Geography of anti-geopolitics.
