    Manoel Dias da Silva, Rodrigo

To this purpose, data from PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) is used, as well as previous studies conducted on PISA national outcomes. Essentially, we show the impact of socio-economic background of students on their learning achievements. Using evidence and knowledge accumulated by international sociological research, we define the factors that mostly affect negative school performance, with emphasis on early childhood education.

  5. A EaD como renovação do mercado educacional brasileiro do nível superior

    Marinho Pimenta, Alexandre

    Sir Retamales, Hugo
This article stresses a series of sociological consequences that can be read from an ontological perspective. These consequences are related to several diagnoses made within the social sciences themselves. The objective is to strengthen certain areas of theoretical reflection, particularly the link between social sciences in general, with what is defined as social movements. The article begins by problematizing the notion of the world in light of the consequences of the phenomenon of globalization, that is, of the production of the globe. Secondly, it approaches the historical events —and some of its readings— that, by the same time, impacted Latin...

  11. Digital technologies and entrepreneurship of rural women

Sánchez-Oro Sánchez, Marcelo; Fernández Sánchez, María Rosa
Digital technologies are a great opportunity for rural women to compensate for their environment deficiencies in order to join the labor market and/or carry out actions of entrepreneurship. However, the use made of these technologies is detached from these objectives but instead focused on social relations, searching for information , and spending time in leisure or in the acquisition of consumer goods. In the present article, it is analyzed the role played by the socializing agents who are closer to rural women from Extremadura and their influence in the process of digital inclusion for business entrepreneurship. The empirical evidence is...

    Matamoros Ponce, Fernando
Abstract: This article reflects on the meaning of images that a "thinker" or intellectual may have in privacy, but the social conditions mediated and limit the subject. From a "sociology of interiorities" One has to ask what about the cultural meanings that are produce by temporalities and configurations of thought, ideas or motivations that configure actions of aesthetics and the art of knowledge to transform the exterior violence. Thus, it confirms that sociocultural dynamics are not ontological notions in a work of art or religious beliefs, as essences in the world, or been a philosophical entity without solid materialism. On...

    Rosa, Tiago Barros
This article aims to present some of conceptions about power, which are present in the thoughts of two contemporary classics from Social Science: Pierre Bourdieu and Michel Foucault. Most specifically, we will analyze the foundations of the notions of symbolic power and disciplinary power, developed, respectively, on their work. Despite the theoretical and methodological differences in both authors, we attend to approach the distinct notions of power in their scientific projects and to confront them to the currently dominant tendency, whose fundamental assumption are supported by the Weberian theory. The idea of imposition of will, as discussed in Weber’s classic...

  15. Sociologia ou biografia? Bauman sob a perspectiva de seus intérpretes

    Abreu, Cleto Junior P. de
The article aims to resume critically studies devoted to the thought of Zygmunt Bauman, contemporary Polish sociologist, in order to grasp their signifi cance in the overall production and dissemination of his work. By associating ostensibly the author’s life to his modus operandi, such assessments are closer to a biographical study than properly metatheoretical one. To do so, we use the critical biographies and autobiographies of Pierre Bourdieu, in order to demonstrate the inadequacy of such readings. We conclude that the current studies of Bauman’s sociology respond more to the interest aroused by the author in recent decades in the...

    Sonnleitner, Willibald
In Mexico, the puzzling relationships between socioeconomic development and voting challenge the classical theories of modernization: in many regions the most participative territories are the poorest ones. To comprehend this contradictory geography of electoral participation, this research explores the varieties of voting in different contexts, levels and scales, focusing on diverse forms of electoral mobilization (based on community or identity; on corporatism and patronage; on psychological, social or territorial linkages; or on individual and rational choice). This invites to revisit the relations between “universal” suffrage and socio‐political inclusion and participation, on democratic contestation and representation, on governance and legitimacy. What...

    Molina-Luque, Fidel
Physical Education has a direct relationship with four of the nine dimensions that constitute Quality of life (Eurostat, 2013): health, education, leisure and social relationships, and personal welfare. The New Sociology of Childhood is a sub-discipline of Sociology (of Physical Education) that explores children’s and young people’s life in a holistically manner. Physical Education appears as a fundamental element for measuring quality of life. Thus, Physical Education can provide children and youth with positive socialization into healthy habits, relational patterns and better self-perception of welfare: they are not ‘objects’ of research, but they are active «subjects». In this sense, this sub-discipline also analyses key...

  20. De la Revolución Verde a los OGM. El proceso agroalimentario pampeano (1957-1996)

    Blacha, Luis E.
